Our Hardwood Floor Installation Process

The hardwood floor installation process begins with thorough subfloor preparation, ensuring it is clean, dry, and level. Next, an underlayment or moisture/sound barrier (like roofing felt) is often installed. The hardwood planks are then laid down, typically starting from a foundational wall, and secured using the appropriate method for the material, which often includes a combination of glue and nails (nail-down or glue-down), or simply floating. Throughout the installation, attention is paid to leaving expansion gaps around the perimeter to allow for natural wood movement. Finally, the process concludes with sanding and finishing the wood (if necessary, for unfinished planks) and installing baseboards and trim to cover the expansion gaps for a finished look.
